Range Rover Rental Cost in Italy: What You Will Pay

A Range Rover rental in Italy is priced per day, and the headline rate is only the first line of the budget. Deposit, insurance level, kilometer allowance, tolls, fuel and delivery decide what the trip really costs. In our reading of public listings, compact models such as the Evoque and Velar sit in the mid-three-hundreds of euros per day, the Sport a little above that, and the full-size Range Rover higher still. Those figures are indicative, and they move with season and length of hire.
This guide shows how to build the number yourself, so that a quote becomes something you can compare, question and approve with confidence.
TL;DR
Expect a daily rate that climbs with the model: Evoque and Velar at the entry point, Range Rover Sport in the middle, the flagship Range Rover at the top.
Longer hire usually lowers the daily rate, while summer weekends, holidays and coastal hot spots raise it.
The rate is not the total: budget for the security deposit (a card pre-authorization), insurance excess cover, tolls, fuel, parking and any delivery fee.
Check whether VAT, kilometers and a second driver are included before you compare two quotes.
We publish no fixed price for the Range Rover, because it depends on dates and delivery. Ask for a written quote.

What a Range Rover costs per day in Italy
The name covers four very different cars, and the price follows the car, not the badge.
Model | Character | Where it fits |
Range Rover Evoque | Compact, easy to park | City stays, Milan or Rome, couples |
Range Rover Velar | Design-led, refined | Business trips, lake and coast drives |
Range Rover Sport | Powerful, roomy | Mountain passes, long road trips |
Range Rover | Flagship, maximum comfort | Families, chauffeur-style arrivals, events |
In the public listings we read for Italy, daily prices for these models run from the mid-three-hundreds of euros for the smaller cars to roughly 450 euros and above for the flagship. Some listings advertise tiered pricing in which a one-to-three-day rental costs noticeably more per day than a week. These numbers vary by operator and season, so treat them as a sanity check rather than a promise.
We do not publish a fixed Range Rover price on our site, and we will not pretend otherwise here. Your quote depends on dates, pickup point and delivery. Ask us for a quote on luxury car rental in Italy and you receive a written figure for the exact model you want.
The factors that move the price
Season and location
Italy is not one market. Rome in January and Forte dei Marmi in August are almost different products. Coastal Tuscany, Liguria, Sardinia and the Dolomites in peak weeks cost more because demand outruns supply. Shoulder months, such as late spring and early autumn, are kinder to the budget and kinder to the roads too.
If Sardinia is on your list, our guide to Range Rover hire in Sardinia covers what changes on the island.
Length of rental
Daily rates tend to fall as the number of days rises. A weekend is the most expensive way to hire per day, a week is usually better value, and longer stays are often negotiable. If your plans are flexible, extend by a day or two and compare: sometimes the total barely moves.
Model and year
A current-generation Range Rover with the latest interior costs more than an older Sport. If you want a specific specification, such as a long wheelbase or a particular color, say so early. We guarantee the exact model you book, which matters when the model is the point of the trip.
Delivery and one-way returns
Delivery to an airport, hotel or villa is a service, and it is priced as one. Collecting at a different city from where you return adds a repositioning charge in most cases. A delivered car, though, means you step straight into your schedule instead of queuing at a desk, which is often worth the fee for a business traveler.
Costs beyond the daily rate
This is where two quotes that look alike turn out to be very different.
Security deposit
Luxury SUVs in Italy usually require a deposit held as a pre-authorization on a physical credit card in the main driver’s name. For vehicles in this class, deposits of several thousand euros are common. It is not a charge, but it blocks part of your card limit for the whole rental, so check your limit before you travel. A debit card is often refused for this purpose.
Insurance and the excess
Basic cover on a luxury vehicle typically leaves you liable for a substantial excess if there is damage or theft. The fix is a reduced-excess or full-coverage package, and its price should be on the quote. Do not assume your home credit card covers the rental: many policies exclude high-value or exotic vehicles, or require specific payment conditions. Read the exclusions for your own card before relying on it.
We explain the options in two guides: luxury car rental insurance and supercar rental insurance explained.
Kilometers
Some contracts include a daily allowance and charge for each extra kilometer. On a road trip from Milan to Tuscany and back, a low allowance can add hundreds of euros. Ask whether mileage is unlimited or capped, and calculate your route before you sign.
Tolls, fuel and parking
Italian motorways are tolled, and a full-size SUV burns fuel at a rate that surprises first-time Range Rover drivers. Many historic centers also restrict traffic through limited traffic zones (ZTL), and entering one without a permit can lead to a fine that reaches you months later. Plan hotel parking in advance, and ask your hotel to register your plate if it sits inside a ZTL.

VAT, extra drivers and young drivers
Check that the rate includes Italian VAT. A second driver and drivers under the minimum age, commonly 24 or 25 for this class, are usually surcharged or excluded.
A worked example: five days from Milan
The following is an illustration with assumed numbers, not a quote. Suppose a Range Rover Sport at 400 euros per day for five days.
Line | Assumed amount |
Rental, 5 days at €400 | €2,000 |
Reduced-excess insurance, 5 days at €60 | €300 |
Delivery to your hotel | €100 |
Motorway tolls, fuel, parking | €350 |
Total trip cost | €2,750 |
Deposit blocked on your card (not charged) | Several thousand euros |
The rental line is 73 percent of the total. The remaining 27 percent is what turns a good-looking rate into a different bill. When you compare quotes, put every offer into this same table and the cheapest one becomes obvious, and so does the one that is only cheap on paper.
Is a Range Rover rental worth it?
It depends on what the car has to do.
Worth it when you carry luggage and people in comfort over long distances, drive in mountains or in winter, arrive for a business meeting or an event, or want the day to feel effortless.
Less obvious when you stay inside one historic city for a few days. Narrow streets, ZTLs and parking costs make a large SUV a burden there. For a short city break, a chauffeured transfer may cost less overall, and the same premium-versus-convenience arithmetic is laid out in executive car versus standard taxi costs for UK transfers.

What you need to book
Typical requirements for a luxury SUV in Italy are a minimum age, a driver’s license held for at least a year, a physical credit card for the deposit and, for non-EU licenses, often an International Driving Permit alongside your national license. Rules differ by operator, so confirm yours before you pay. Our guides on documents for a luxury car rental in Italy and on whether Americans can rent a car in Italy list what to bring.
How to keep the total sensible
Book early for summer and holiday weeks, when the best models disappear first.
Fix your dates before you request quotes, so each one is comparable.
Ask for the all-in figure: VAT, insurance level, kilometers, delivery and any second driver.
Choose the model for the route, not the badge. A Velar may do everything an Evoque trip needs with more comfort, and a Sport may spare you the flagship price.
Check your card limit for the deposit before you leave home.
Plan parking and ZTLs on the first night, not on arrival.
Our perspective: price the trip, not the day
We see the same pattern every season. A traveler finds a low daily rate, books, and then discovers the deposit, the excess and the kilometer cap. The car is not the problem; the comparison was.

Our approach is to make the rental simple to evaluate. We recommend a specific model for your itinerary, give a written quote with the extras visible, and guarantee the exact model you booked instead of a vague category. A booking that reserves only a class, with the car decided at the desk, is a real risk when you planned a trip around one vehicle.
We also deliver to the place you prefer, which turns a transfer into a confident start. For most of our business and event clients, that hour saved at arrival is worth more than the small difference in daily rate. And we speak plainly about when a Range Rover is not the right car: a three-night stay in the center of Florence is better served by something smaller, or by no car at all.

FAQ
How much does it cost to rent a Range Rover in Italy?
In public listings we read, daily rates start in the mid-three-hundreds of euros for the Evoque and Velar and reach about 450 euros and above for the flagship. Season, length, location and delivery change the number. Ask for a written all-in quote with insurance, kilometers and VAT stated.
Is the deposit charged to my card?
No. The deposit is normally a pre-authorization that blocks part of your credit card limit and is released after the car comes back in agreed condition. Check your limit and confirm the amount before you travel, because a card that cannot cover it can end the booking at the desk.
Does my credit card insurance cover a Range Rover?
Not necessarily. Many cards exclude high-value or exotic vehicles, or demand that the whole rental be paid with that card. Read your policy for luxury vehicle exclusions in Italy, or take the reduced-excess package offered with the rental.
Is it cheaper to rent for a week than for a few days?
Usually the daily rate drops as the rental gets longer, so the total for a week can be close to that for four or five days. Request quotes for both lengths before you decide.
